Video : School Staff Aims to Help Students with Diabetes

School staff and parents work together to provide optimal diabetes management in the school setting

The start of a new school year of your child can be stressful and anxiety for the whole family. In particular, when children have a chronic health problem such as diabetes, it is much more challenging.

When Ethan Rass, of Beverly Hills was 8-year-old, he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. The diagnosis created stress and anxiety for the Rass family.

Managing the type 1 diabetes is overwhelming for parents, but also challenging for school staffs.

It’s not enough to rely on a school nurse because many districts have reduced or eliminated school nurses. Therefore, parents must train school staff how to care for their children.
